Uniform

We consider that uniform is important because:

At the School we firmly believe that the wearing of a smart School uniform encourages pride and loyalty to the School and demonstrates that the student is a willing member of our community. Parents/Carers are asked to ensure that their children are dressed correctly for school. We particularly welcome parents/carers support on uniform and equipment.

Details of what our uniform consists of are outlined below:

BOYS

School blazer with logo

School tie

School jumper (optional) to be worn under blazer, not as an alternative

Plain white shirt with collar and buttons to top
Short or long sleeve (no polo shirts)

Straight leg, full length plain black trousers (not denim, canvas or skinny fit)

Plain black leather or leather-look school shoes (no pumps, training shoe styles, canvas
or logos)

GIRLS

School blazer with logo

School tie

School jumper (optional) to be worn under blazer, not as an alternative

Plain white blouse with collar and buttons to top
Short or long sleeve (no polo shirts)

Straight leg, full length plain black trousers (not denim, canvas or skinny fit)

or

Tailored, plain, black knee or just above the knee length skirt
(we reserve the right to decide if a skirt is too short)

Black opaque tights

Plain black leather or leather-look, low-heeled school shoes (no pumps, training shoe styles, canvas
or logos)

Belts

Only narrow plain back belts may be worn though belt loops in trousers.

Jewellery

Only the following items of jewellery are allowed:-

  • One pair of small stud earrings
  • One watch or bracelet
  • One ring

The School does not permit nose studs, eyebrow, tongue or other piercings. Students are not allowed to attend the School with a plaster covering a piercing.

Tattoos

Tattoos are not allowed. It is illegal to have a tattoo under the age of 18 therefore, tattoos are not expected to be seen in the School.

Make-up

Students are allowed to wear discreet make-up, but we reserve the right to ask for excessive amounts to be removed. No coloured nail varnish.

Hair styles

We do not allow “extreme” or unnatural hair styles or colours, or partially or fully-shaved heads. We reserve the right to define extreme and remove from normal lessons any student who comes to the School with such hair styles. If any hair style constitutes health and safety risk we will request that this is rectified.

Electronic Devices/Mobile Phones

Mobile phones and electronic devices should not be seen inside the school except in areas designated as ‘phone zones’. If a student is seen using these items inside, they will be confiscated and put into the School safe until Friday evening of that week. Students will be issued with a receipt. Parents/Carers will be able to pick up these items at other times in the week if they bring the receipt.

Equipment

Sports kit

All students must bring their PE kit to every lesson, even if they are going to be excused for medical reasons, as they will be asked to fulfil different roles depending on the activity e.g. line judge, umpire, coach, etc. Students should be suitably dressed in PE kit, bearing in mind the weather conditions.

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT ALL ITEMS ARE NAMED SO THEY CAN BE RETURNED TO THE RIGHTFUL OWNER IF FOUND

In case of severe hardship, parents/carers should approach the School which may be able to assist in the provision of uniform. Training shoes are not to be worn with school uniform.

Items of non-uniform will be confiscated and retained by the School until an agreed time of collection and the School will not take responsibility for the loss of confiscated items.
