Student Leadership

At The Hart School, we are deeply committed to developing young people who are prepared to succeed academically, socially and personally, and who make a meaningful contribution to the wider community. Student leadership plays a vital role in this mission, providing opportunities for pupils to build character, take responsibility and demonstrate the values that underpin our school.

Our approach to leadership is guided by The Hart School values of being Happy, Ambitious, Resilient and Tolerant. These principles are integral to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are not only focused on their own success but also on supporting and uplifting others.

  • Happy – Leaders foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere, ensuring our school is a place where every child feels valued and supported.
  • Ambitious – They set high expectations for themselves and act as role models, encouraging peers to aim high in all aspects of life.
  • Resilient – They demonstrate perseverance in the face of challenges, inspiring determination and a growth mindset across the school.
  • Tolerant – They embrace diversity, model respect and work to bring people together, strengthening the unity of our community.

Through these values, student leadership supports pupils in developing essential life skills – communication, teamwork, empathy and decision-making – which complement their academic studies and prepare them for future education, employment and citizenship.

By actively contributing to the culture and success of The Hart School, our student leaders not only enrich their own development but also strengthen the sense of belonging and pride that connects us all.

Head of School

Our Head of School is a sixth form student who has grown alongside The Hart School, ideally having been part of our journey for the past seven years. They are a role model who lives and breathes our core values, (Happy, Ambitious, Resilient, and Tolerant) in everything they do.

With a “We can, we will, we do” attitude, they inspire others through their actions, led by example, and work tirelessly to make a real difference to our school community. Their influence reaches beyond academic achievement; they foster a positive culture, champion student voice, and embody the spirit of The Hart School in every interaction.

Head Student

Our Head Student is a Year 11 leader who sets the standard for others to follow. They are a shining example of our school values — Happy, Ambitious, Resilient, and Tolerant — showing that leadership is about action, integrity, and making a difference. The Head Student represents the voice of their peers, supports the school community, and inspires younger students to aim high. This is more than just a position; it’s a chance to help shape the culture of The Hart School and leave a legacy of positivity and determination.
