SEND

The Learning Support Team is based within our dedicated SEND Hub. The Learning Support Team is part of the School Inclusion Team which also includes the Pastoral Team.

The Learning Support Team is led by the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, Mrs Louise Taylor and Miss Samantha Care the Assistant Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator.

The team aims to provide high quality support to all students with a range of special educational needs. By working collaboratively with students, teachers, parents and the pastoral team, we endeavour to support students to overcome their difficulties and fulfil their potential. The academy SEND team work in line with the requirements of the current SEND Code of Practice (2014).

Support is delivered via specific targets, as part of the graduated response Assess, Plan, Do, Review.

All students with SEND have the right to an inclusive curriculum, which allows them to access Quality First Teaching in all of their lessons. This is essential if students are to make expected progress.

Our teachers will use adaptive strategies to support our children to  access to the curriculum, this might include:

  • Visual timetables
  • Chunking
  • Scaffolding e.g writing frames
  • Visual Aids and tactile resources
  • Chromebooks, laptops or other alternative devices
