Work Experience

Introduction

Work Experience Week is an exciting opportunity for Year 10 students to step into the world of work and discover what it's really like beyond the classroom. During this week, you'll spend time in a real workplace, learning new skills, meeting professionals. It’s a chance to explore your interests, build confidence, and gain valuable experience that could help shape your future. Whether you're in an office, a shop, a workshop, or somewhere else entirely, every moment is a chance to learn something new!

And we're here to help and support you along your journey.

Finding a Placement

Finding a work experience placement can be challenging, so it’s smart to start looking early. The sooner you begin asking around, the more options you’ll have. Here are a few ideas to help you get started:

  • Contact local businesses either by telephone or email
  • Talk to family and friends
  • Speak to our Careers Officers – Mrs Gilmore

Sometimes, who you know can be just as important as what you know, so be resourceful and use your contacts.

Networking is a key skill, so start developing now!

Platforms

We use Unifrog which is an online platform designed to help students explore their career options, find university and apprenticeship opportunities, and build key skills for the future. It brings together everything you need to make informed decisions about your next steps—whether that’s choosing GCSEs, planning for sixth form, applying to university, or preparing for work experience.

Unifrog will be used to manage work experience paperwork, Once you have agreed your placement and have details of your employer (including a named contact, their phone number and their email address), you can upload these to the Unifrog Placement Tool.

If you have issue's with your login please see Miss Caulfield or Mrs Gilmore for support
